
Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Transport and Communication sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.77%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Otsuka Holdings Ltd (TYO:4578), which rose 3.04% or 213.00 points to trade at 7,223.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:6098) added 2.21% or 200.00 points to end at 9,250.00 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) was up 2.20% or 40.00 points to 1,861.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lasertec Corp (TYO:6920), which fell 8.31% or 1,345.00 points to trade at 14,850.00 at the close. Komatsu Ltd. (TYO:6301) declined 5.65% or 301.00 points to end at 5,022.00 and SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436) was down 4.88% or 60.50 points to 1,180.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2172 to 1388 and 284 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.07% to 22.85.
Crude oil for September delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $66.71 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $69.33 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.16% or 5.25 to trade at $3,372.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.05% to 148.52, while EUR/JPY fell 0.37% to 171.45.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 98.70.
