Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Transport and Communication sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 1.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Fanuc Corp. (TYO:6954), which rose 5.00% or 211.00 points to trade at 4,431.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sharp Corp (TYO:6753) added 4.93% or 33.50 points to end at 713.50 and Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976) was up 3.85% or 104.50 points to 2,820.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735), which fell 9.74% or 1,190.00 points to trade at 11,030.00 at the close. Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) declined 8.96% or 1,030.00 points to end at 10,465.00 and Resona Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8308) was down 4.64% or 67.00 points to 1,376.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1972 to 1613 and 271 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.03% to 22.17 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.91% or 0.59 to $65.75 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.83% or 0.56 to hit $68.22 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.13% or 4.50 to trade at $3,397.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.22% to 147.99, while EUR/JPY fell 0.01% to 173.39.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 97.61.
