
Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Transport and Communication sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.92%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nexon Co Ltd (TYO:3659), which rose 8.37% or 220.00 points to trade at 2,850.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bandai Namco Holdings Inc (TYO:7832) added 4.34% or 201.00 points to end at 4,829.00 and Aeon Co., Ltd. (TYO:8267) was up 3.85% or 165.00 points to 4,449.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were LY Corp (TYO:4689), which fell 5.28% or 28.60 points to trade at 512.70 at the close. Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:8035) declined 4.80% or 1,200.00 points to end at 23,800.00 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735) was down 4.77% or 510.00 points to 10,180.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2812 to 809 and 217 ended unchanged.
Shares in Aeon Co., Ltd. (TYO:8267) rose to all time highs; rising 3.85% or 165.00 to 4,449.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.16% to 23.52.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 5.67% or 3.86 to $71.90 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 5.45% or 3.78 to hit $73.14 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 1.02% or 34.85 to trade at $3,437.25 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.11% to 143.64, while EUR/JPY fell 0.24% to 165.81.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 98.20.
