Japanese stocks fell after the close on Monday (2/3), as losses in the Precision Instruments, Real Estate and Food sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 was down 2.69%.
The best performers on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506), which rose 16.39% or 100.00 points to trade at 710.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Konami Corp. (TYO:9766) gained 14.14% or 2,025.00 points to close at 16,345.00 and Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6770) gained 5.04% or 78.50 points to 1,637.50 in late trade.
The worst performers on the session were NH Foods Ltd (TYO:2282), which plunged 10.96% or 556.00 points to close at 4,515.00. Seiko Epson Cor (TYO:6724) plunged 9.98% or 281.00 points to close at 2,535.00 and TDK Corp (TYO:6762) plunged 8.92% or 168.50 points to 1,720.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, with 2,863 to 830, with 176 ending unchanged.
