February consumer sentiment figures raised some concerns last week, and now investors will turn to key earnings numbers this week from consumer building suppliers Home Depot (HD) and Lowe's (LOW) to help gauge the health of consumer spending. The U.S. Personal Consumption Expenditure (PCE) inflation figures due later this week will garner much of the investor attention as traders look for signs that the higher-than-expected increases in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) in January were just a flash in the pan and not a sign of a renewed resurgence in inflationary pressures.
