
Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.20% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Resonac Holdings Corp (TYO:4004), which rose 11.65% or 540.00 points to trade at 5,175.00 at the close. Meanwhile, SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436) added 7.39% or 104.50 points to end at 1,518.00 and Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (TYO:5706) was up 5.93% or 605.00 points to 10,810.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:9501), which fell 7.68% or 54.30 points to trade at 652.70 at the close. Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531) declined 5.17% or 296.00 points to end at 5,431.00 and Nintendo Co Ltd (TYO:7974) was down 3.10% or 420.00 points to 13,115.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1962 to 1642 and 237 ended unchanged.
Shares in Resonac Holdings Corp (TYO:4004) rose to 5-year highs; up 11.65% or 540.00 to 5,175.00. Shares in Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (TYO:5706) rose to all time highs; up 5.93% or 605.00 to 10,810.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.17% to 24.17.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.39% or 0.25 to $63.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.31% or 0.21 to hit $67.74 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 1.16% or 43.30 to trade at $3,674.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.22% to 147.27, while EUR/JPY rose 0.16% to 173.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 96.76.
