Gold Prices Drop in Morning Asian Session
Monday, 9 December 2024 07:42 WIB |

Gold rose on Monday after China's central bank added bullion to its reserves in November, ending a six-month pause in a buying binge that had provided a major pillar of support for the precious metal. Bullion rose as much as 0.6% to trade just below $2,635 an ounce, after the People's Bank of China said Saturday it bought 160,000 troy ounces last month. The addition was the first since April, before the central bank halted purchases for 18 months that had helped prop up prices amid strong interest from global public institutions. The probability of a 25-basis-point rate cut in December jumped to about 79%, up from 66.5% last week. The expectations grew after data showed U.S. service sector growth slowed more than anticipated in November, even as Fed Chair Jerome Powell signaled the central bank was in no rush to cut rates, citing strong growth, a robust labor market and persistent inflation pressures. Friday, 6 December 2024 00:57 WIB | GOLD EMAS

Gold prices dipped in the mid-day US session on Thursday as US Treasury yields rose following the release of weekly jobless claims data, while markets awaited US nonfarm payrolls figures for fresh insights into the Federal Reserve's stance on cutting interest rates.
