U.S. stock futures inched lower Tuesday morning after the Nasdaq Composite posted a second day of gains, helped by Tesla and other tech shares. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 83 points, or 0.25%, while S&P 500 fell 40 points, or 0.36%. Nasdaq 100 futures hovered just below the flat line. In regular trading, the Nasdaq Composite posted a 0.6% gain, helped by a 6% rally in Tesla. Meanwhile, the Dow erased a 304-point gain and ended down almost 113 points, while the S&P fell 0.1%. Hong Kong stocks finished Tuesday on the back foot as profit-taking and fresh US interest rate concerns offset optimism over China's economic reopening. The Hang Seng Index dipped 0.27 percent, or 56.88 points, to close at 21,331.46. The Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.21 percent, or 6.58 points, to 3,169.51, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange added 0.29 percent, or 5.96 points, to 2,060.44. Tokyo stocks rose Tuesday, taking heart from Wall Street rallies last week sparked by US jobs data that dampened expectations of more aggressive Fed rate hikes.
