Hong Kong shares ended higher Friday, extending the previous day's near-three percent gains, as global markets were boosted by a better-than-expected reading on US jobs creation. The Hang Seng Index jumped 0.99 percent, or 248.93 points, to 25,373.12. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 2.01 percent, or 62.24 points, to 3,152.81 while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange rallied 1.28 percent, or 25.84 points, to 2,041.89. The Dow and S&P 500 rose on Thursday to close at record highs as health insurers gained after the Trump administration scrapped a plan designed to rein in prescription drug prices, while financial shares climbed with bond yields. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 227.88 points, or 0.85%, to 27,088.08, the S&P 500 gained 6.84 points, or 0.23%, to 2,999.91 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 6.49 points, or 0.08%, to 8,196.04. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied to a record high on Thursday, led by UnitedHealth shares, after testimony by Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell that signaled easier monetary policy could be implemented later this month. The 30-stock average broke above 27,000 for the first time in its history, rising 200 points or 0.8%. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 rose 0.3% to trade back above 3,000 while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.2%. The S&P 500 first broke above 3,000 on Wednesday. Source : CNBC
