Spot gold climbed as investors weighed virus developments in the U.S and the advance in equities on Monday.
U.S. virus cases rose to 3.27 million with almost 56,000 new infections, less than the one-week average daily increase. Even so, Florida broke the daily record for all U.S. states with more than 15,000 new cases and South Carolina has a record positive rate. New York City reported its first day with zero confirmed or probable virus deaths on Sunday. Outside of the U.S., new outbreaks in some parts of the world are causing restrictions to be reimposed, spurring doubts about the pace of global recovery.
