Bursa berjangka anjlok setelah Trump umumkan penangguhan perjalanan AS-Eropa

Saham berjangka AS jatuh pada Kamis, karena pidato kenegaraan Donald Trump, dan mengikuti aksi jual curam lainnya di Wall Street yang mematahkan pasar bullish selama lebih dari satu dekade untuk Dow.

Presiden melakukan pidato secara langsung pada jam 9 malam waktu timur AS, serta detail rencana mengenai bagaimana pemerintah mengatasi penyebaran wabah virus korona, termasuk rencana stimulus ekonomi. Terutama, Trump mengatakan perjalanan antara AS dan Eropa akan ditangguhkan selama 30 hari, mulai Jumat ini.

Dow Jones Industrial Average berjangka bergerak datar sebelum pidato, tetapi jatuh lebih dari 1.000 poin dengan cepat pasca pidatonya, dan ke pembukaan pasar Eropa turun dari 1.120 poin, atau 4,8%, ke 22.455. S&P 500 berjangka dan Nasdaq-100 berjangka turun lebih 4,4% juga.

Sebelumnya, Dow anjlok 1.464,94 poin, atau 5,9%, menjadi ditutup pada 23.553,22, menandai pasar bearish, secara luas didefinisikan sebagai penurunan setidaknya 20% dari rekor intraday tertinggi baru-baru ini. Itu mengakhiri 11 tahun kenaikan indeks blue-chip.(yds)
