The US military will deploy two US hospitals to alleviate the medical needs of professionals and beds needed by corona virus patients.

The USNS Comfort ship, repaired in Norfolk, Virginia, will be sent to New York Harbor in the coming weeks.

The USNS Mercy, at the port in San Diego, "will be prepared to depart faster" ahead of the Comfort Ship and will be deployed to undetermined locations on the West Coast "within days, not weeks," Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said. Wednesday (3/18).

Joint Staff of Surgeons General Paul Friedrichs said the Joint Chiefs of Chief of Staff, General Mark Milley, had prepared several active task units in the provision to build hospitals in areas throughout the country. However, officials who support these defense facilities are designed to help treat victims, not infectious patients.

"This facility does not have a special, separate room for the treatment of infectious diseases," Esper told reporters Tuesday at the Pentagon.

Air Force Chief General David Goldfein said the Air Force also flew the virus needed to determine areas of need.

The Pentagon said Wednesday against 89 cases of the corona virus worldwide related to cases of US military members, 49 cases of military members, 14 civil cases, 19 family members and seven contractors.
