Pertumbuhan Ekonomi Australia Lebih Lambat dari Perkiraan Karena Penurunan Ekspor

Perekonomian Australia tumbuh lebih lambat dari perkiraan dalam tiga bulan terakhir pada tahun lalu, menggarisbawahi kemungkinan bank sentral mempertahankan suku bunga yang ditahan.

PDB Australia naik 0,4% dari triwulan sebelumnya dibandingkan kenaikan 0,5% yang diperkirakan, PDB Australia naik 2,4% dari tahun sebelumnya dibandingkan perkiraan kenaikan 2,5%. Konstruksi non-dwelling merosot 8%, lebih rendah 0,5 persen dari PDB Australia; pada sektor ekspor turun 1,8%, merosot 0,4 poin persentase; Household naik 1%, menambahkan 0,6 persen poin. Rasio Household naik 2,7% di kuartal keempat terhadap revisi 2,5% dalam tiga bulan sebelumnya. Australia beralih ke arah pertumbuhan ekonomi yang didorong oleh layanan dan jauh dari pertambangan, dengan bank sentral mempertahankan tingkat suku bunga pada rekor rendah selama lebih dari 18 bulan untuk mendukung transisi tersebut. Sementara bisnis telah mendorong investasi dan perekrutan, termasuk 300.000 pekerjaan full-time tahun lalu, tingkat pengangguran hanya turun perlahan dan inflasi hanya merayap lebih tinggi karena kapasitas cadangan tetap berada dalam perekonomian.

Households tetap terperosok dalam hutang dengan rekor tinggi dan pertumbuhan upah rendah yang membatasi pengeluaran. Pemerintah telah melangkah untuk memberikan dukungan terhadap permintaan dengan proyek infrastruktur besar untuk membantu negara-negara bagian timur mengatasi lonjakan pertumbuhan penduduk.

Bank sentral Australia mengatakan mereka memperkirakan pertumbuhan akan mempercepat tahun ini dari yang terakhir, yang seharusnya membantu menyerap cadangan. Namun, Gubernur Reserve Bank of Australia Philip Lowe mengatakan pada Rabu sebelumnya bahwa dia melihat tidak ada kasus kuat untuk pergerakan suku bunga dalam waktu dekat, menambahkan bahwa kemajuan dalam tingkat pengangguran dan inflasi akan terjadi "hanya secara bertahap."(arl)
