Gold Holds Decline as U.S.-China Trade Talks in Focus

Gold held a drop as investors weighed a stronger dollar and the upcoming U.S.-China trade talks.

The Trump administration placed eight Chinese technology giants on a U.S. blacklist on Monday, accusing them of being implicated in human rights violations against Muslim minorities in the country™s far-western region of Xinjiang. This comes just days before Vice Premier Liu He and an entourage of officials are scheduled to arrive in Washington to resume negotiations.

Spot gold little changed at $1,493.39/oz at 9:20am in Singapore; -0.7% Monday

Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index steady after +0.2% Monday

Other precious metals: Spot silver little changed at $17.4440/oz, Platinum +0.6% to $882.85/oz, Palladium +0.2% to $1,666.57/oz.
